We recorded the first sounds a long time ago with the first microphone and reel to reel machine. Now we have computers, Drum Computer and other advanced machines to help get high quality tracks. Lets look at recording machines and talk about whats good about them.
Tape Recorder

We used to record things onto a cassette with a portable tape. It sounded quite compressed and a bit fuzzy but the quality wasn’t bad. It was quite good to record live music and any single track type takes with tape. We could record ideas for the track to tape before creating tracks at the studio.
MPC | Drum Computer

We could record tracks on the MPC because it had a hard drive and it was an audio workstation. It was great for making tracks on because it had a lot of tools and effects built into it. We could record audio on it and bounce tracks to a computer with the usb cable. The small 2 colour screen was good because it was interesting that we could do all of this work with it. The dials and buttons were fun to use to operate the machine.
Computer

Now we can make complete tracks and record everything on a computer. We can download samples from internet or use drum synthesizers to create our own drum sounds. If we export the tracks from cubase we can publish them online.
Drum Computer

This is a very good drum synthesizer and I have recorded it in cubase many times. It can produce some great intense drum sounds that sound very mechanical. We can click the drum pictures to generate new sounds and this is a very fast way to get new drum sounds. When we hold down some of these keys the drum keeps repeating like in 1/16 and 1/32.
