Our drums are sounding good right now. We have kick drums and snares. Now we can go to the next step and add hi hats. There are many ways we can add the hats. Lets discover the best hi hats and talk about whats good about them.
Sampler Track Hats

We have a lot of drum sample packs. We can search through all of our samples with a keyword in the control room mediabay in Cubase. This way we can preview all of our hi hats and they will be next to each other.
Acoustic Drums

We could record them into cubase or use one of the great acoustic drum kit vsts. EZ Drummer is a great choice because it has real drum samples and they sound good. Past to Future is good too because we can adjust the envelope of each drum via the gui.
Drum Computer

Thats another amazing vst for hats. We can click the generate button and it will randomise all the settings to give us a new hat. Each drum occupies multiple midi notes and those notes play different rhythms when held down. We can create some really interesting rhythms by holding and switching hat keys.
Drum Pro | Hats

Thats great because when we hit the hat right after the open hat it shuts the open hat down. It has a good choice of hip hop type drum kits and also has a reverb option built in. We should freeze the kit after we’ve recorded it because its VST 2.4.
Cubix

This can play the full drum kit by itself. We can switch between the presets and find something for our track. The hats also sound really good on this. We can write automation to bring them in and out. Its VST 1.0 but we can use render in place to bounce it in project to make it stable.
