Its great to use hi-pass and low pass filters in many situations. They can help us filter out high buzzy noises from hi frequencies or unwanted low noises from guitar or keys. Lets look at pass filters and talk about why they’re good.
Music Production | Pass Filters

We want to mix the tracks after we’ve recorded them and get the best possible quality. This track can sound amazing because we have cubase, an audio interface, guitars and vsts on the computer. So we’ll work on the track until we get it as good as we can.
Low pass on guitar tracks

We can filter the low frequency on guitars so the subs can take that frequency range. It will also give us a more focused sound for the guitars and it will be better in most cases. Now that we’ve applied the low pass filter we can gain stage the track so that its at the right level to hit the plugins.
High Pass

Our bass guitar track has some buzz on the high frequencies so lets add the high pass filter. Now it sounds completely clean and we can go ahead with the computer processing. Its a lot easier to clean that buzz from the bass because it doesn’t use the high frequencies.
Keys | Pass Filters

We might want to look at the eq of the chords and see how much low end it uses. If we add pass filters on this it will give the sub more presence in the mix. The keys take up the full frequency range and thats why it sounds great as a solo instrument.
Next moves

Now that we’ve sorted our eq we can apply our usual effects chains and tweak them for the track. The track sounds great now and we can master the track.
