It is great to add saturation to tracks like guitars, pianos, vocals and bass. Lets discover the best saturation plugins and talk about why they are good.
Ozone 11 Vintage Tape

This has different settings to the others and it changes the sound very slightly. With the delta mode we can solo the effect to set it with extra precision. It is good to boost the effect and then use the gain match function for just the harmonics. This can help the track to stand out in the mix.
Tape Saturation

Tape Saturation is exclusive to the channel strip and it can overdrive the track. It can also add good harmonics to the kick drum and make it more punchy. The auto gain button really pushes the saturator and it makes the track sound a lot clearer.
Saturn 2

I’ve used this on a couple tracks to add distortion and it sounds great. There are a lot of great presets, its versatile and can produce different types of sound. Its good because some presets boost the gain and some reduce it. It is also my favorite plugin for overdrive.
Magneto II

This can give the track more character and make it sound different to all the other tracks. It can create space between the piano chords and guitar chords. I also like to use this for mastering because it just enhances the sound and finishes it. This is also available on the channel strip.
Tube Saturation

I like the Tube Saturation because it sounds great on the factory setting and it is easy to apply to tracks via the channel strip. It adds a bit of extra harmonics and gain straight away. I like to use it on all sorts of tracks because it can help get the tracks to good volume levels.
