Previously I talked about the 5 best instruments and the Bass was mentioned on there. The Bass Guitar is an amazing instrument and there are many other great types of Bass. Lets look at some of the best types of them and also highlight the great things.
Sub Samples
I like to audition sub samples with the sampler track in Cubase. There are many sub folders in my sample pack folder and many Sub files. Some of the Subs I am familiar with and have used for many projects. The sampler track is a very good tool in cubase – you can play a sample like it were a vst and shape the sound in many ways.
VST3 Sub/Bass
The 808 Bass Module is a great virtual instrument not just because it sounds great but also because it has a lot of great presets built in. I just started using it recently and have recorded many of my latest tracks with it. There are many presets I haven’t checked out yet so I’ll probably check them out.
Bass Guitar
I just got a new one back in January after not having one for a couple of years. Its been recorded on most of my latest tracks and it helps me feel that the track is complete with it on there. Because theres usually already a sub sample/vst on the track – I record it as a top bass. I’m always trying to find the best effects and settings to apply to it.
Low Piano Notes
At least one of my tracks have a low piano as the bass. It sounded great and I’d like to experiment with it again, when the time is right. The EQ can help make it a great low end instrument and a bit of compression can help too.
